Admissions & Enrollment Requirements

Applicant requirements for the three GME funded residency positions:

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Applicants must hold a DMD or DDS degree from an ADA-accredited dental school

New residents should have the following by July 1 of the admission year:

  • Kentucky Dental License (Limited License is satisfactory)
  • ADA Membership
  • AAPD Membership
  • Textbooks:
    • McDonald, Avery, Dean; Dentistry for Children & Adolescents
    • Profit; Contemporary Orthodontics
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training (to be obtained within the 1st month of matriculation)
  • Required vaccinations

International applicants

  • Applicants must hold a DMD or DDS degree from a non-ADA accredited dental school.
  • Applicants must have successfully passed INDBE (or NBDE Part I and II).
  • All applicants for whom English is a second language must take the iBT TOEFL examination (or equivalent) to provide evidence of proficiency in written and spoken English. Applications for the examination may be obtained from Test of English as a Foreign Language, Education Testing Service, Princeton, NJ 08540. Register for the test here.
